Dating Royal Worcester 1867 to 1927 Marks on China

In 1958 Palissy Pottery Ltd. was bought by the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company. Various markings were used, but the words were not included in the factory mark until 1976 when Royal Worcester, Spode and Palissy came under common ownership. Palissy continued to make the popular Games Series and Avon Scenes until the 1980s.

The Royal Worcester standard printed factory mark includes the number 51 in the centre which refers to the year 1751 when the Worcester Porcelain Company was founded by Dr. John Wall. Early standard marks show the crown slightly above or perched on the circle and from 1876 the crown sits down onto the circle. The mark can appear in any colour.
