What Is It? The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art.

A Zentangle is a miniature abstract work of art created by a collection of patterns. It is typically done on a 3 ½" x 3 ½" paper "tile" using a pencil and a black pen. The small size allows for a work of art that can be completed in a relatively short period of time. The "zen" part of it is that it can be a very relaxing and meditative experience.

The best thing about zentangle art is that you don't need much to get started. The only supplies you need to start drawing your first zentangle are: A pen with black ink: a pen with a fine-tip will make it easier to draw more complicated and detailed patterns. The Sakura Pigma Micron fineliner works great for this.
